Jesper Arvidsson, Superintendent Engineer, Operation/Engineering, MAN Diesel & Turbo
Jesper Arvidsson is a Marine Engineer who joined MAN Diesel and Turbo in 1988.
Prior to employment at MDT he was a sea-going Marine Engineer with experiences in a variety of different vessels such as container ships, gas and oil tankers.
Employed at MAN Diesel 1988 as a Technical Sales Manager for Two Stroke parts (Germany).
Transferred 1992 to the Operation department as Superintendent Engineer.
Specialized test- and commissioning engineer of new engines on factory test beds and commissioning and testing of engines on ship yards world-wide including ship sea trials and delivery tests.
Stationed for shorter or longer periods at various MDT locations, mainly USA.
Since 2005 specialized Engineer on abatement and reduction technologies for two stroke engines including SOx, NOx and PM reduction techs and combination plants as well as emission measurements and certification.
Vast experience in on-board testing of abatement techs.
Involved from MDT side in development, installation and certification of the first commercial scrubber plants for shipping and many more plants since then.
Holds MAN Diesel seat in EGCSA (Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems Association).
Stephen Bligh, Senior Principal Surveyor, DNV GL
Stephen Bligh is an internationally experienced professional Maritime Expert, with over 48 years’ experience in shipping and is well versed in dealing with Politicians and Government departments. Extensive experience at sea, a qualified Master Mariner with command experience followed by a career in ship management, culminating in the position of Director Fleet for P&O Nedlloyd.
Present position working for DNV GL as a senior principal Consultant in the Dubai office.
For the past ten years, has worked with DNV GL’s management consulting arm, utilising his years of unparalleled maritime expertise with a focus on safe operations, cost reductions and latterly safety culture having worked directly with over 30,000 seafarers across multiple shipping segments.
Prior to Joining DNV GL, was the Chief Executive Officer of the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency, reporting directly to the Secretary of State for Transport. At the MCA was accountable for all Maritime matters, within UK territorial waters and up to 200 miles offshore.
Stamatis Bourboulis, General Manager, Euronav Ship Management (Hellas) Ltd
Stamatis Bourboulis is the General Manager of Euronav Ship Management (Hellas) Ltd since its inception in November 2005.
He graduated from the National Technical University of Athens as a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer in 1981 and he has worked in the chemical industry, ship building and ship repair shipyards in Greece.
From 1990 till 2005 he worked for Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises Ltd as Superintendent Engineer, Ship Manager and Technical Manager dealing with various types of vessels.
He is a member of Intertanko Safety and Technical Committee (ISTEC), DNV and RINA Greek Technical Committee.
Stefanos Chatzinikolaou, Piraeus Training Centre, R&D / Innovation Hub Manager, RINA Hellas
Stefanos Chatzinikolaou holds a diploma from the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (NTUA). He has served for over ten years as a research engineer at NTUA participating in several research projects, in topics such as maritime safety, ship environmental assessment, air emissions, and energy efficiency among others.
His doctoral research studies deal with the development of methodologies for the assessment of the sustainability concept within the maritime transport sector. From Sept 2015 he has joined RINA, being responsible for the research, innovation and training activities of this classification society in Piraeus, Greece.
Rasmus Folsø, CEO, DESMI Ocean Guard A/S
Rasmus Folsø took up the position as CEO of DESMI Ocean Guard A/S 1’st of December 2011. Prior to this Rasmus was a member of the Board of DESMI Ocean Guard A/S, from 2009 to December 2011. DESMI Ocean Guard A/S markets type approved UV-based ballast water treatment systems that are optimized to meet the strict IMO and USCG requirements everywhere in the world, while at the same time matching the shipowner requirements.
Before joining DESMI Ocean Guard Rasmus worked with innovation in Maersk Maritime Technology where he was Head of Strategic R&D. It was in this position Rasmus first started working with ballast water treatment issues seen from the point of view of a shipowner, and in 2009 a joint research project resulted in the establishment of DESMI Ocean Guard A/S.
Prior to joining Maersk, Rasmus held various positions at the Italian classification society RINA, where he over a period of 9 years worked with advanced sea-keeping analyses, fatigue damage assessments and rule development in IACS (International Association of Classification Societies).
Rasmus holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in naval architecture from the Technical University of Denmark.
Stamatis Fradelos, Manager, Advisory Services, ABS
Stamatis Fradelos is Manager in ABS’ Advisory Services team. The Advisory Services team provides technical support on Environmental Compliance, Energy Efficiency, Operational Support and Safety & Risk Management matters. Stamatis represents ABS on the IACS Environmental Panel.
Prior to joining ABS, Stamatis worked as a marine field surveyor for five years at the Hellenic Register of Shipping and spent six years at Lloyd’s Register as a Plan Approval Surveyor.
Stamatis has a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, a M.Sc. in Marine Technology and Science and a M.Sc. in Engineering - Economic Systems.
Antonios Georgantzis, Technical Manager, Consolidated Marine Management Inc.
Antonios Georgantzis graduated from the National Technical University of Athens as a Naval Architect & Marine Engineer on 1998 and completed post-graduate studies on marine structures and hydrodynamics two years later at the same University. He joined Det Norske Veritas on 2002 and held assignments at Piraeus, Oslo & Korea.
On 2006 he joined Consolidated Marine Management Inc., Technical Managers of Latsis Group Shipping Sector as Assistant Site Manager for the construction of three VLGC gas carriers at HHI, South Korea. Following his return to Greece on summer 2008 he has taken various positions within the Company while since January 2016 he has been assigned with the role of the Technical Manager.
He has participated in several industry projects among others working with Green Award for the development of large LPG vessels certification criteria and most recently the LPGreen joint industry project for a concept design of a state of the art next generation environmentally friendly, energy efficient and safer LPG carrier. He is a member of Intertanko’s Environmental Committee.
Haris Giantzikis, Technical Manager, Arcadia Shipmanagement Co Ltd
Charalampos (Haris) Giantzikis holds a High National Diploma (HND) in naval architecture, a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering from City University of New York.
He launched his career in 1979 as assistant superintendent engineer at A. Halcoussis.He worked as superintendent engineer at Tsakos Shipping, Piraeus (1987-1991) and as senior superintendent engineer at Seven Seas Maritime in London (1991-2001). He was fleet manager at Marmaras Navigation (2001-2002) and technical manager at Tsakos Shipping (2002-2005).From 2005 to date he holds the position of technical manager at Arcadia Shipmanagement.
He is member of ABS European Technical Committee, Bureau Veritas Hellenic Marine Technical Committee, DNV GL Greek Technical Committee, Lloyd’s Register Hellenic Technical Committee, Class NK Greek Technical Committee and is a member of the MARTECMA council.
Stavros Hatzigrigoris, Managing Director, Maran Gas Maritime Inc, Chairman, MARTECMA
Stavros Hatzigrigoris is the current Managing Director of Maran Gas Maritime Inc., a position which he has held since 2003. For the years 1992 to 2012 he held the position of Managing Director of Maran Tankers Management Inc. Stavros joined Anangel Shipping Enterprises S.A. in 1981 as a Superintendent Engineer.
He holds a B.Sc. degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from University College London, an M.Sc. degree in Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and has studied Management of Ship Operations in the University of Strathclyde.
He is Chairman of MARTECMA, a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers and has served as one of the SNAME International Vice Presidents. He is a member of the ABS Technical Committee, the Chairman of the DNV-GL Technical Committee and a member of the Greek Technical Committees of LRS, KR and CCS.
Frode Helland-Evebø, Chief Sales and Marketing, Clean Marine
Frode Helland-Evebø holds a bachelor degree in Electrical Power Engineering and Industrial Marketing.
He have since 1994 held different positions within international sales and business management / development in companies like Honeywell, Consilium, Zenitel and the Scana group. Frode joined Clean Marine in 2012 as Chief Sales and Marketing and his main task has been to develop the Exhaust Gas Cleaning System business for their CleanSOx Compact and Tower products.
Frode is also a Board Member in the Norwegian Maritime Exporters (NME), an organisation fully owned by its member companies; comprising around 100 Norwegian suppliers and manufacturers of high quality products and services to ship owners and shipyards worldwide, with agents in more than 130 countries.

Gregory Kazantzis, Technical Resource Manager, Maritime Service Centre & Advisory, Piraeus, DNV GL
Gregory Kazantzis is currently the Technical Resource Manager in Maritime Service Centre & Advisory of DNV GL Piraeus office. He joined DNV in 2002 working in Pusan Korea and Piraeus offices for approvals, precontracts and technical topics for new buildings and ships in operation. Before joining DNV he was the Head of Hellenic Plan Approval Office of Bureau Veritas. Started his career in the Design department and as Head of CAD/CAE department of Elefsis Shipyards.
He holds a M.Sc. degree in Marine Technology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a Diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.
John Kokarakis, VP Technology & Business Development Marine & Offshore Division, Bureau Veritas
Dr John Kokarakis has extensive experience in ship design and operations, spanning over thirty years. He has served in various positions at ABS and Germanischer Lloyd with emphasis in design and construction.
Currently he holds the position of Vice President of Technical Business Development responsible for the South Europe, Africa, Hellenic, Black Sea & Middle East Zone. His work focuses on the implementation of the “green” regulations with specialization in fuel saving techniques.
John is a graduate of National Technical University of Athens, following which he earned a doctorate and MSEs in Naval Architecture and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.
Dimitris Kostaras, General Manager, Pantheon Tankers Management Ltd
Dimitris Kostaras holds a Masters degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from National Technical University of Athens as well as an MBA from Athens University.
He started his career back in 1990 with American Bureau of Shipping. During the last 27 years with ABS, has held various positions worldwide, (New York, Houston, Busan) last being Vice President of Engineering for Europe Division from 2007 until end of 2016.
From beginning of 2017, he joined Pantheon Tankers Management SA (under the umbrella of Anna
Angelicousi Kanellaki group) as General Manager, being responsible for day to day operation for 21 tankers on the water (appr 4.7m DWT) and a big newbuilding project in Japan and Korea.

Panagiotis Koutris, Managing Director, Kristen Marine SA, Roxana Shipping SA
Panagiotis Koutris, Naval Architect & Marine and Mechanical Engineer M.Sc, was born in 1957 in Athens. In October 1980 he graduated from National Technical University of Athens, where he studied Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering.
After his graduation he was employed in Alfa Laval (1983-1984) and then in Avin International SA (1984-2000) and Athenian Tankers (2000-2001).
Since then he is Managing Director in Kristen Marine SA – Roxana Shipping SA.
Maria Kyratsoudi, Senior FOBAS Specialist / Team Leader, Lloyd’s Register
Maria Kyratsoudi joined Lloyd’s Register in 2009 and work as Regional FOBAS Business Development Manager for South Europe. Her primary responsibility is to look after and expand the FOBAS service in the South Europe region as well as to provide specialist technical advice on fuel quality and on-board fuel management.
Prior to joining Lloyd’s Register, Maria worked as a plan approval engineer at Germanischer Lloyd.
Maria Kyratsoudi holds an MSc in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the National technical University of Athens.
George Laios, Business Development Manager, N.J. Goulandris Maritime
George Laios joined NJ Goulandris Maritime Inc in 2017 and is currently the Business Development Manager. Prior to joining NJ Goulandris Maritime Inc, he worked for more than 14 years for the shipping department of the Royal Bank of Scotland – where he last held the title of the Senior Director, Ship Finance.
Since 2015 he is an instructor in the ”Shipping Finance’’ distance learning course of SeaWorks Training and Consultancy in collaboration with the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. Prior to that, George lectured strategy and shipping finance undergraduate and postgraduate students at BCA/London Metropolitan University,.
George holds a BSc in Shipping Business Administration (University of the Aegean) and a MSc in International Economics, Banking & Finance (Cardiff University).
Since 2015, he serves as the Deputy General Secretary of the Association of Banking and Financial Executives of Hellenic Shipping.
Dr Sara Lawrence, Global Technical Manager, Shell Marine
Sara Lawrence joined Shell Marine in 2009 and is currently the Global Technical Manager. Her responsibilities include managing a team of 30 technical experts that are delivering technical support and services to Shell Marine customers across the world, as well as working closely with the sales, marketing and research teams to develop and implement new products and services.
Prior to joining Shell Marine, Sara has worked in various technical and commercial roles within Shell, including as a Lubricant Research Scientist, Fuels Resource Manager, Bitumen Marketing Manager and spent several years in Japan working as a Senior Technical Advisor. Sara holds a degree and PhD in Chemistry from the University of York.

Dragos Rauta is Naval Architect sand Mechanical Engineer.
Chronological activity in new building shipyard, ship design & research and 6 years of activity in Towing Tank facilities.
Joined INTERTANKO in September 1990, reason being OPA 90 and developments of Double Hull structural requirements for tankers by IMO.
He holds the position of Technical Director since 2000 with activities out of INTERTANKO Oslo office except period of 2002 – 2005 when he opened and operated from the INTERTANKO Office in Washington D.C.
He is member in various bodies like DNV GL Nordic Committee for Safety at Sea, the NACE Coatings Council, US Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).
Fridtjof Rohde, CSO, Marorka
Fridtjof Rohde has more than 20 years of experience in the shipping industry. Previously he has been CCO of Pella Sietas and Principal Consultant at FutureShip. He also worked for J.J.Sietas KG.
Fridtjof has a great understanding of design and build, and vast experience in the container and multipurpose vessels. His focus for the last decade has been on strategy, sales and after-sales management.
Arie Smits, Senior General Manager, Global Turbocharging Sales, ABB Turbo Systems Ltd, Switzerland
Senior General Manager Arie Smits, is currently responsible for global sales of turbochargers in the low speed segment at ABB Turbo Systems Ltd.
He has an electrical and electronic background and had a long career in the Dutch dredging industry, which included extensive traveling. He continued his career at ASEA, where he also worked in the offshore as well as the traditional marine industry. Shortly after the merger between ASEA and BBC, forming the current ABB, he changed position to ABB Turbocharging and headed the turbocharger service station in Rotterdam and Antwerp for several years.
In 2001 he moved to the head office of ABB Turbo Systems in Switzerland to become responsible for global sales and projects. In 2011 he stayed for almost one year in South Korea and headed the local turbocharger organization.
Miltiadis Synefias, Technical Director, Pleiades Shipping Agents SA
Miltiadis Synefias graduated from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne where he obtained from his BSc degree in Marine Engineering in 1980 and his MSc degree in Marine Technology in 1981.
He commenced his career in the Passenger Cruise industry by joining Royal Cruise Line as Sup’t Engineer from 1984 to 1989, and Chandris / Celebrity Cruises from 1989 to 1995. During this period he was extensively involved in passenger cruise vessel new buildings, conversion and repairs.
In 1996 he was appointed Technical Director of Chandris Hellas, owners / managers of a mixed fleet of VLCC / aframax / panamax tankers and panamax bulk carriers, until 2002.
From 2002 to date he is the Technical Director of Pleiades Shipping, owners / managers of a fleet of LR1, LR2 and MR tankers. In this period he has experienced new building deliveries from S. Korea and Japan, and very lately the SOx scrubber solution as being applied to some of the new buildings in South Korea.
He has been one of the founding members of MARTECMA and now member of the council. He participates in the Technical Committees of three major Class Societies.
Dimitris Thedossiou, Co-founder & Managing Director, Danaos Management Consultants SA
Dimitris Theodossiou is the co-founder and the managing director of Danaos Management Consultants S.A. Dimitris graduated as Naval Architect and Marine Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Marine Engineering (with distinction) from the University of London. Post graduate studies in Computer Science and Industrial Marketing.
Dimitris’ experience is in the development of systems to support ship management and streamline commercial operations in the areas of fleet performance and statutory compliance.
Marcello Vercellino, Sales Manager Marine Division, Ecospray Technologies
Graduated in electronic engineering, Marcello Vercellino has more than 15 years of experience in the sales and after sales of equipment for marine applications.
Since 2016 in Ecospray Technologies, Marcello is managing the EGCS sales for the worldwide market.
Kostas Vlachos, Chief Operating Officer, Consolidated Marine Management Inc.
Kostas Vlachos is Mechanical / Electrical Engineer graduated from Technical University of Athens.
He had been working for 15 years as a representative member for the Hellenic Flag Administration in IMO and EU in Safety and Environmental committees.
He is currently the COO of Latsco Shipping Ltd and the Managing Director of the subsidiary company the Consolidated Marine Management Inc. having full control and responsibilities on technical and operational matters of the vessels belonging to the corporate company (LPG carriers and oil tankers currently 23 in total).
He is a member of ABS, DNV-GL, LRS, National and technical committees.
In 2013 was elected Chairman of Intertanko Hellenic Mediterranean Panel and a Council representative of Greece member.
He is a member of Intertanko Safety, Technical and Environmental Committee (ISTEC) and of Intertanko Gas Committee.
He is a member of the common working group OCIMF-Intertanko, which was established in 2015 with the aim to reviewing and promoting Human Element matters of common interest.
Since 2014 he is a member of the ExCom of Intertanko.
He has been inviting in various fora as a speaker on Safety, Environmental and Technological developments, such as Intertanko, Mare Forum, Newsfront, Capital link, Lloyds Gas Forum, DNV-GL safety forum, Safety4Sea and others.

Antony Vourdachas, Principal Vessel Performance Analyst, Advisory Services, ABS
Antony Vourdachas is Principal Vessel Performance Analyst in ABS’ Advisory Services team. The Advisory Services team provides technical support on energy efficiency, vessel performance and environmental matters.
Prior to joining ABS, worked as a project engineer for two years and a further five years in various positions in the technical department at OSG. He also spent three years as a researcher for the University of Newcastle upon Tyne after working at DML Dockyard in Plymouth.
Antony has a Master of Research in Marine Engineering and a B.Eng. in Small Craft Technology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Panos Zachariadis, Technical Director, Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management Ltd
Panos Zachariadis is Technical Director of Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management Ltd, a bulk carrier operator, since 1997. From 1984 to 1997 he was Marine Superintendent in the company’s New York office. His shipping experience spans diverse areas including sea service in bulk carriers and oil tankers, dry dock repairs, new building supervision and specifications, ship operations and chartering. He holds a MSE degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan.
He has been attending IMO for many years as a member of the Greek delegation. He was extensively involved with IMO’s Goal Based Standards and the Greek study which reversed the IMO decision to make double hull bulk carriers mandatory. He was also instrumental in developing the new IMO coating standard (PSPC) for all ships’ ballast tanks. Currently he is involved in the new IMO environmental regulations for ships.
He has written numerous technical guides, papers and articles and has been awarded the 2011 Efkranti Shipping Personality award for promoting Greek Shipping internationally. Member of Hellenic Chamber of Shipping and UGS technical committees, BIMCO Marine Committee, ABS European Technical Committee, BOD HELMEPA and MARTECMA.
